The Sennheiser MKE 400 shotgun microphone uses a supercardioid pickup pattern to focus on sound in front of the camera while reducing unwanted background noise from the sides. This makes it a good choice for interviews, outdoor shoots, YouTube videos, product videos, documentaries, event coverage and run-and-gun filming.
For better performance in real-world shooting conditions, the microphone includes integrated wind protection and an internal suspension mount. These features help reduce wind noise and handling vibrations when filming on the move. In addition, the included MZH 400 furry windscreen gives extra protection when recording outdoors.
The MKE 400 also gives you more control over your audio. It has a built-in low-cut filter to help reduce low-frequency rumble, plus a 3-step sensitivity switch for adjusting recording levels depending on the environment. The integrated headphone output with volume control allows you to monitor sound directly, which is useful when using cameras that do not have a headphone jack.
This microphone is also versatile because it supports both camera and mobile recording setups. It comes with locking 3.5mm TRS and TRRS coiled cables, making it suitable for DSLR cameras, mirrorless cameras and compatible mobile devices.
