The RODE VideoMicro II Ultra-Compact On-Camera Microphone is a lightweight shotgun microphone designed to improve audio quality when recording video with a camera or compatible mobile device. It is a practical choice for vloggers, filmmakers, YouTubers, journalists, content creators and anyone who wants cleaner sound than a built-in camera microphone.
The RODE VideoMicro II microphone uses a highly directional supercardioid pickup pattern to focus on sound from the front while reducing unwanted noise from the sides and rear. This makes it useful for interviews, outdoor videos, product reviews, travel content, event coverage and everyday video recording.
This microphone is simple to use because it does not require batteries or complicated controls. Just connect it to your camera using the included 3.5mm TRS cable and start recording. For compatible smartphones with supported 3.5mm input, the included TRS to TRRS cable can also be used. Some USB-C and Lightning mobile devices may require a separate adapter.
The VideoMicro II also includes RODE’s HELIX isolation mount, which helps reduce knocks, bumps and handling noise when the microphone is mounted on a camera. The included foam windshield is suitable for indoor use, while the WS12 furry windshield helps reduce wind noise when recording outdoors.
