The RODE NT1 5th Generation Large-Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser XLR/USB Microphone is a professional studio microphone designed for creators, musicians, podcasters and recording engineers who need clean, detailed and flexible audio capture. It combines the classic NT1 studio sound with modern digital recording features, making it suitable for both traditional studio setups and direct computer recording.
The RODE NT1 5th Generation microphone features a large-diaphragm cardioid condenser capsule that captures vocals, instruments and speech with clarity and detail. Its cardioid polar pattern focuses on sound from the front while helping reduce unwanted background noise from the sides and rear. This makes it ideal for vocals, acoustic guitar, piano, voiceovers, podcasting, livestreaming, narration and home studio production.
One of its strongest features is the Dual Connect output system. You can connect it through XLR to an audio interface, mixer or studio preamp, or use USB-C to record directly into a computer. When used through USB, the microphone supports high-resolution digital recording, including 32-bit float output, which helps protect recordings from clipping when capturing very loud or very quiet sources.
The NT1 5th Generation is also built for clean studio performance. It has an ultra-low 4dBA self-noise rating, making it excellent for quiet vocals and detailed instrument recording. It can also handle loud sources up to 142dB SPL, giving it the flexibility to record powerful vocals, percussion, guitar amplifiers and other demanding sound sources.
